Homework

Homework Expectations

At Beecroft Academy, it is our aim to provide regular homework, which prepares a child for an activity; reinforces work in class or gives the opportunity to develop essential study skills through open-ended research. Homework is set to develop positive attitudes towards supported and independent work at home, to support current teaching and learning and to help prepare a child for the next phase of their Education. Most importantly, it gives parents the opportunity to see what their child is currently studying in school and become involved in this.

We know that families have busy lives. In line with DFES guidelines, our aim is that homework should be relevant to a child’s current learning and needs, but at the same time not be too onerous.

You can expect your child to receive the following homework each week:

-Spellings

-Times tables/ number bonds practise

-Choice of an activity from the foundation homework grid

Homework Grids

Please see this term’s foundation homework grids below. Each week your child should complete an activity from this grid. Completed work should then go in your child’s homework book. This could be in the form of a poster, research notes, a print out, photograph etc. Your child may also wish to present their work as a model or piece of artwork. This can then be brought into school and displayed in the classroom or school corridors.
