Sports Premium Funding

Sports Premium Funding

Athletics

The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for each academic year until 2020 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – will be allocated to primary school head teachers.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Challenge Programme

We offer a wide range of extra curricular range to all of our children. Mr Hewitt, Sports Coach, and Mrs Hardy, Teaching Assistant, lead a club every day of the week. Teaching and support staff also have the opportunity to lead clubs at different points during the year to give our children many exciting opportunities.

Take a look at what we have offered this year;

External Accreditation

For the Year 2014 – 2015, the school achieved its Silver Award in conjunction with the Sainsbury’s Games initiative.

In 2015 – 2016 the school has successfully developed a link with Sustrans, leading to participation in the Big Pedal and Cycle to Santa, as well as a ‘Biker’s Breakfast’. Staff and children also raised a large amount of money for charity by running, skipping or hopping for Sport Relief.

2015-2016

Beecroft Academy received £8,990 for the year 2015-2016. The majority of this has been spent on recruiting a PE specialist, in addition to our existing part time PE specialist, who has worked full time, in conjunction with the Deputy Headteacher and subject coordinator to improve many aspects of the school’s PE provision.
