At Beecroft Academy, we believe that financial education is a vital life skill that empowers children to thrive both now and in the future. We are committed to equipping our pupils with the knowledge, confidence and values they need to make informed, responsible and thoughtful financial decisions.

Our carefully sequenced curriculum begins in the Early Years and progresses to Year 6, building strong foundations from recognising coins and notes to developing a deeper understanding of earning, saving, spending, budgeting and giving. Through meaningful and progressive learning experiences, children gain not only practical financial knowledge but also the critical thinking skills needed to navigate an ever-changing world.

Financial education is enriched through our ‘Big Ideas’ of significance, growth, change, democracy and investigation. By making purposeful links across mathematics, PSHE, RE and the wider curriculum, we ensure that financial learning is relevant, connected and rooted in real-life contexts. We aim to foster curiosity, resilience and ethical awareness, helping children understand both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with money.

Through practical enterprise opportunities—such as planning and running seasonal fairs—pupils apply their learning in authentic contexts. They develop skills in budgeting, pricing, teamwork and evaluation, experiencing first-hand how financial decisions have real outcomes. By managing class savings and making collective choices, children learn the value of collaboration, accountability and shared success.
