At Beecroft Academy, we aim to encourage a love and excitement for languages and support an understanding of living in a multi-cultural society, provide an opening to other cultures and foster curiosity about the wider world. An awareness of culture will support our pupils to immerse themselves in our world without barriers and become globally aware, cultural citizens. Pupils will recognise the value and richness of cultural diversity in Britain, and how these influence individuals and society.  We want to teach our pupils to welcome both the similarities and differences in our world including different languages, cultures and traditions. Weaved within our language’s curriculum are opportunities to explore ‘The Big Ideas’ of significance, growth, change, democracy and investigation and how these relate to the learning of languages and different cultures.  Our curriculum allows pupils to be introduced and exposed to different languages and deepen their ability to show respect and play a valuable part in our global society. Dedicated cultural days allow us to celebrate and learn more about the different cultures within our school and wider community.

Our curriculum is designed to teach French to our pupils using ‘Language Angels’. This is a stimulating interactive resource allowing pupils to ‘Achieve Excellence Together’ whilst developing their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills from Year 3 up to Year 6.
