Our Geography curriculum is intentionally designed to develop rich knowledge and skills in all aspects of Geography. Creating curiosity and fascination with the world in which we live and engaging lessons for pupils to ‘Achieve Excellence Together’. Using the Cornerstones Curriculum, teachers plan lessons where pupils are able to develop key aspects of Geography including physical and human geography, map and compass skills and developing their knowledge and understanding of their locality and the wider world. We have designed a curriculum with the intention of giving our pupils a better understanding of the world in which they live and prepare them as well-rounded citizens in the future. Weaved throughout this learning are opportunities to explore our ‘Big Ideas’ of significance, growth, change, democracy and investigation. We teach the pupils about the importance of caring for our environment, sustainability and the responsibility we all hold to take care of our planet.

At Beecroft Academy, we embrace our diverse community and celebrate the different cultures and heritage of our pupils. To be well rounded citizens, we believe pupils need to understand the differences between places and their cultures and be able to recognise how these change over time.  We do this through dedicated cultural days where we gain a better geographical understanding of the different countries and enjoy some of their traditions including clothes, food, dance and music.
