At Beecroft Academy, we teach Religious Education in a way that has been designed to reflect our diverse and multi-faith community to ensure all our children and families feel accepted, valued and celebrated.

Our curriculum inspires curiosity and creativity allowing pupils to ‘Achieve Excellence Together’ developing their knowledge and skills to equip them for their future learning and later life. Weaved within our sequence of learning are our ‘Big Ideas’ of significance, growth, change, democracy and investigation.

Through our teaching and learning, we aim to develop responsibility and respect for all aspects of diversity, whether it be social, cultural or religious and prepare pupils well for life in modern Britain.

Our aspirational curriculum has been intentionally sequenced to incorporate the key traditions, festivals and celebrations of the different religions.

Using the Bedfordshire Agreed Syllabus, we teach pupils following the focus of:
Making sense of beliefs
Making connections
Understanding the impact.

We believe that pupils should be given the chance to explore different religious and non-religious beliefs to develop their own understanding of how they see the world. We want to provoke curiosity and give the opportunity for pupils to ask and answer ‘Big questions’ and make connections with the different beliefs and religions chosen by others, to recognise and understand the impact this has on the way they chose to live their lives.

The principal aim of RE is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.
