Online Safety

We value Computing at Beecroft Academy. We encourage our pupils to experience different ways of accessing mobile technology.

With all of the potential that the online world and new technology offers, young people now have access to huge opportunities. They use technology to express themselves, explore and be creative; technology has changed the way they communicate. The Internet has changed all of our lives and your child is growing up during this change. Many of the things that confuse, baffle or even scare us are part of everyday life for them. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

It is likely that you’ll be playing catch-up with the way your child is using the Internet. You might be wondering whether what they are doing is safe, and you might also be thinking about how you can watch out for them as well in their online activities as you do in other areas of their life? We take online safety very seriously at Beecroft Academy and we ensure that all pupils receive regular lessons to understand the potential risks online and how to report concerns if necessary in order to stay safe online.

We understand that it is increasingly difficult to keep up with the ways that our children are using new and ever changing technologies. When monitoring your son/daughter’s internet use, please remind yourself of the concerns of social media.
