Admissions – Joining Beecroft
Entry to Reception
Most pupils join our school at the start of their Reception year. We understand this is a big step, sometimes more so for the parent than the child. We also understand you are handing over your most precious thing in the world, your child, and it is with this in mind that we organise transition to Beecroft.
The ‘Journey To Beecroft’ for these pupils begins as early as November of Nursery. This is when families can visit us for the first time to look around on our planned Open Days that allows them to see our school as it is during the course of a normal working day. All families are shown around by a member of staff who are happy to talk about our school and answer any questions.
Once children and their families have made the decision to join us, we begin working hard with the children’s current settings in order to prepare for their arrival. We write to the children and try to visit all of them in their current settings. We also visit the home with a member of the wellbeing teamto see the child in an environment which they are familiar with and comfortable in..
The next big step is Transition Day in June/July, when the new children join us for half a day in order to meet their new teachers and to find out more about what it is like to be a pupil at Beecroft.
Once the new school year begins, we have our teachers and a team of Teaching Assistants on hand to support Miss Le Boutillier (EYFS Coordinator) as the children get used to their new surroundings. It really doesn’t take very long at all!
Just in case they have any questions during the course of the year ahead of joining Beecroft, prospective families are more than welcome to make contact with us either by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone (01582 663486).
