It is recommended that young people wear mouth guards when taking part in contact games, e.g. rugby and hockey. These can be fitted by dentists or bought from retail sports outlets and most pharmacists. Shin pads are also recommended for contact sports

Shoes

Shoes must be black, flat and durable for every day wear. Trainers are not permitted. ‘Fashion’ shoes are unsuitable for school. The following footwear is not appropriate and should not be worn: trainers, flip-flops, canvas shoes (including plimsolls), sling backs, boots and shoes with a raised heel.

Jewellery

In the interests of health and safety, pupils are not permitted to wear any jewellery, other than a wristwatch.  It is helpful for children to have an analogue watch (not digital) as this helps them to learn to tell the time.

If your child already has pierced ears they are permitted to wear one pair of stud earrings. Loop style earrings are not permitted.

Make–up, Nail Varnish and Nail Extensions

Children often play with these items at the weekend or during school holidays, however pupils are not permitted to wear any make-up, coloured nail varnish or nail extensions to school.

Hair

Long hair should be tied up.  Hair bands, scrunchies, etc. should be black, grey, blue or red, to co-ordinate with Beecroft Academy school colours.  Extremes of hairstyle (e.g. shaved logos) and brightly coloured dyed hair or coloured braiding are not permitted.

Bags

Book bags are compulsory for all children. For children in Year 5 & 6 there is an optional Beecroft Academy back pack available from Best Look.
